In 1862 John Guy Ferguson brought together the various commemorative Clubs to form the Associated Clubs of the Apprentice Boys od Derry. Ferguson became the first ‘Governor’ of the Association, chairing the General Committee which plays a central role within the Association.
General Committee is the body which agrees the Rules of the Association.
The majority of representatives on General Committee are from the eight Parent Clubs, and all senior Officers of General Committee must be a representative to General Committee from a Parent Club.
The balance of General Committee membership is drawn from regional Amalgamated Committees.
