The Associated Clubs of the Apprentice Boys of Derry exists to celebrate the Anniversaries of the Shutting of the Gates and the Relief of Derry, handing down to posterity the memory of the famous events of the years 1688-1689 connected to the City of Londonderry.
Within the great purpose of the Association is the cause of Civil & Religious Liberty. Remembering the Defenders of Londonderry who suffered deprivation, disease and death with defiance and determination, with courage and Faithfulness. During the Great Siege the citizens and those who had sought refuge in the City of Londonderry stood together, resolutely holding fast to ‘No Surrender’ without doubt or defeat.
A people which takes no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered with pride by remote descendants.
Lord Thomas Babington Macaulay.
